Now, let me explain about my list (if someone could be so kind as to tally them up for me I will repost it in full)...... Djs that I respect that have done a ridiculous amount for the scene (the 41st time with the wrong punctuation,haha) This was not a great big plan to please or piss off, I had a day off in bed to get better and I cannot do nothing all day. This has been in my mind for ages and I have been fed up of the political polls (pay me to go higher, pay me for a certain artist not to be in it) fed up with the hipster polls (support us and we will place you We will place you and hopefully your hipsterness will rub off on us ) and the ridiculous polls that are open to the EDM marketing abuse of click farms that have denegrated the good work of many. I didnt know what number to stop at, in the end I elected at 40 as I am feeling better and now will to spend a day (at least) listening to all the new music in my inbox/soundcloud etc.....I knew some people would be left off and that would shock or perhaps (without intention) upset, Marcel Dettman is one such exclusion...why? Life is strangely random, but I have never heard him in a club and taste the (no doubt well deserved) vibe, I know he is good but I cannot place someone I havent truly heard can I? There are still so many good Techno (this was a Techno list) artists / ambassadors that could be mentioned, of course Len Faki, Kevin Sanderson, Stacey Pullen, of course The Hacker, Adam X etc etc etc etc etc, but I had to finish. This list is also absent of a lot of Women, that is not indicative of me but perhaps the scene, the list is either about lifers a time where it was tougher for woman to start than it is now (although the ridiculous press and backstage phone camera action for Paris Hilton...that guy was lucky there was no speaker stack at hand , has done immense damage to the cause of Female DJ IMO in the same way that Thatcher did to Female Empathy). The women on this list (Miss Djax / Mary Anne Hobbs) have done exceptional things for the scene for prolonged periods at a time where toughness was an unfair necessity. But...... of course there are Women in the scene and had I have had more time ill I would include Mistress Barbara , K- Hand (some of her works are Techno excellence, the very best) Miss Kitten, Monika Kruise and DJ Kammy (one of the very very best Techno turntablists that I have ever seen, male or female) etc etc. The list is numerical but really random, off the top of my head, do not read anything into the order. It started off as a list, but then I added some comments to each, again do not read anything into the lack of comments at the beginning of the list. Now the I respect that have done a ridiculous amount for the scene means to me things they have done to improve or add or challenge the scene (the scene being Techno remember), not ridiculous amounts for themselves not Selling out the scene for their own egotistical needs not Selling a lifestyle but living a lifestyle that encourages others selflessly or by leading by example with skills and choices that can inspire. All these people (and if I had more time I could have added quite a few more) in my opinion have done this and deserve a Techno Mount Rushmore carved. I love this scene, I am critical of things that I see (including myself) I care for this scene, one day perhaps I will do a list for Electro and one for the New Jacks but I also wanted to show you that aside from having a go on Facebook I also have a shed load of love and respect (sometimes this has been edited out of my press interviews to reinforce a stereotype or a view of a magazine) , if you (really) know me you will know that, but most of you dont. I hope this scene continues to prosper. Thanks for your time for reading this and sorry this is only in English.
