Now on to Focus Area III - Quality Assurance. Mr. Tony Pickett is presenting information to the BOE regarding a timeline and process for discussing/pursuing a charter system application with the state legislature. Each district in the state must declare an operating system for their district to the state by June of next year. There are a few options, and one of those options is making a school system a charter system. This would mean the entire school district is under a charter with the state to provide broad flexibility for educating students in exchange for meeting certain achievement levels/targets. Mr. Bowler is now reviewing the training plan requirements for the school board members for Georgia School Boards Association training. Mr. Bowler is also seeking approval of his recommendation for administrative personnel actions. The BOE has approved his recommendation. Mr. Bowler is also recommending approval of the application for community use of school facilities for use of the parking lot at Henry County High School. The BOE has approved the recommendation.
