Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? (2 Corinthians 2:14-16) previously: Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christs gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia. 2 Corinthians 2:12-13 For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; 2 Corinthians 7:5-6 --- For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake. 2 Corinthians 4:3-5 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12 __ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak 2 Corinthians 4:13 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:15 [the abundant grace in Finnish: the ever increasing grace, meaning in our own lives and in other peoples lives] ___ For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 __ The story of a BLIND HYMN WRITER FANNY CROSBY, who lost her sight as a baby due to a mistake done by a doctor: I have heard that this physician never ceased expressing his regret at the occurrence; and that it was one of the sorrows of his life. But if I could meet him now, I would say, Thank you, thank you — over and over again — for making me blind, if it was through your agency that it came about ! This sounds strangely to you, reader? But I assure you I mean it — every word of it ; and if perfect earthly sight were offered me to-mor-row, I would not accept it. Did you ever know of a blind persons talking like this before? Why would I not have that doctors mistake — if mistake it was — remedied? Well, there are many reasons : and I will tell you some of them. One is, that I know, although it may have been a blunder on the physicians part, it was no mistake of Gods. I verily believe it was His intention that I should live my days in physical darkness, so as to be better pre-pared to sing His praises and incite others so to do. I could not have written thousands of hymns — many of which, if you will pardon me for repeating it, are sung all over the world — if I had been hindered by the distractions of seeing all the interesting and beautiful objects that would have been presented to my notice. - Fanny Crosby, 83 yrs ___ AN AIRMANS PRAYER (found among the personal papers of Ed Northern, 420 Squadron, Missing April 30, 1944. Believed shot down over Dunkirk, crashed in English channel and drowned): DEAR GOD: Help me to be a real sport in this little game of life. I dont ask any easy place in the line-up; play me anywhere You need me. I only ask for the stuff to give You one hundred per cent of what I got. If all the hard drives seem to come my way, I thank You for the compliment. Help me to remember that You wont ever let anything come my way that You and I cant handle. And help me to take the bad breaks as part of the game. Help me to understand that the game is full of knots and knocks and trouble, and make me thankful for them. Help me to get so that the harder they come the better I like it. And, dear God, help me always to play the game on the square. No matter what the other players do, help me to come clean. Help me to study the Book, so that Ill know the rules, and to study and to think a lot about the Greatest Player that ever lived, and other players that are told about in the Book. If they found out that the best part of the game was helping others who were out of luck, help me to find it out too. Help me to be a regular fellow with the other players. Finally, O God, if fate seems to uppercut me with both hands, and Im laid on the shelf in sickness or old age, or something, help me to take that part of the game too. Help me not to whimper or squeal that the game was a frame-up or that I had a raw deal. When in the falling dusk I get the final bell, I ask for no lying complimentary stones. Id only like to know that You feel that Ive been game in lifes day by day. youtube/watch?v=_9D_MmsCur4
