Now that I have gotten a lot of attention because of my controversial Binay post, let me elaborate further. I will make this short and sweet so everyone can focus on what is the reality on the ground. The Binay phenomenon will happen and none of us will be able to stop it. The truth is, none of the elites matter in the next elections. When we have over 65 percent poverty and the highest unemployment in the region, that basically says that we have failed in addressing the concerns of the poor. Trickle down economics does not work. We have not addressed the systemic and structural issues hobbling our Democracy. The result of this gross omission is a powder keg and a social volcano. No society can sit on these numbers and feel at ease. We are Cuba in the 50s before Fidel Castro took over. Because we have been remiss, the poor have consolidated and identified their champion. It is the dark one, Jojo Binay. He is the great brown hope and he is formidable. We can only erode his popularity if we seriously address systemic problems with our government. Since that is not happening, none of us matters to them. Our so called growth is not inclusive and because its not, sila naman.. There is a movement happening. Its more like a huge tsunami.. We are the minority. We are not involved because we never cared to address the issues of our society, the poorest of our poor, the hungry. We have not cared for their children and women. Rather we have exploited them. We have abused them and we have callously partied amidst the abuse. The OFWs will not save us. Our 6 percent growth which does not go to our general population will not save us. The greater number of our people, the masses demand change because they cannot accept that the country is making progress and they are not part of it. Look at the economic numbers that was published in the Inquirer last Thursday.. Stare at it and wake up! Stare at the cold hard facts and weep for your country. These numbers are unacceptable and Imperial Manila will not move. They function in a bubble. Therefore they will not matter. The bubble of opinion makers and power brokers in Manila will not matter. Social media will not matter.. What will matter is tangible fundamental change to arrest the dynamics that increase poverty and unemployment numbers. PNoy with all his political capital will not save us. He cant. He wont. History will record him as inept, emasculated and incompetent. This is what matters. We need to change the land and business ownership provisions so investments can pour in from other sources and in so doing, people in the country side can have job opportunities and hope. So give me your best shot and hit back but I am not the problem. I am just showing you the reality. Robin Hood is coming. Reacting to me will not change anything. So now that u have been struck by lightning, U want to change things around? Stop reacting to me and start employing some people. Bring business to the countryside. Bring business to the city, to the locality. Start a business and invest in your country. Take people out of poverty one by one. Dont give them false hope and lip service. Give them tangible hope and employment. Be fair to them. Give them a future. Binay will happen and u will all grieve and there is nothing u can do about it.. And we deserve it because we fiddled while the country burned.
