Now that New Zealand seems headed resolutely down the post-9/11 American model of undermining citizens constitutional protections for pragmatic reasons (despite John Key disarmingly telling us hed prefer not to)...its worth looking at John Olivers piece on how civil forfeiture is working out in the US. Note civil forfeiture, with its reverse onus (guilty until proven innocent) is how the US is pursuing Kim Dotcoms assets - nice, big, unpopular, organised crime target...but how does it play out for the little guy?
