Now that family is notified and arrangements are made; a sad note that our family lost a truly, truly wonderful lady early this morning. Just 25 days shy of her 98th birthday, my Grandmother, Arvilla Johnson, was a true gem. She gave me my first cookbook at the age of 7 (still have it!), attended my piano recitals, cooled my oatmeal by the door when it was hot, taught me to knit, tolerated us grandkids mixing all the frosting colors together that made an awful gray tone when frosting Christmas cookies, took me to buy my prom dress, let me borrow her car for my drivers test, came to inspect my first apartment to make sure it was ok, and so many more events over the years. More recent was the birth of her first great-great grandchild to make for a few 5 generation photos over the last 19 months. We are so fortunate she was able and willing to attend our wedding in June and see lots of family. I can only aspire to be half the woman she was. She truly set the bar high! She will be missed by many - yet can now again see all her family and friends that passed before her.
