Now that the first hurdle of grabbing APGA ticket has been most - TopicsExpress

Now that the first hurdle of grabbing APGA ticket has been most effectively accomplished, lets revisit Dr Ernest Ndukwes blueprint...as we gear up for General Election in February. BLUEPRINT FOR ERNEST NDUKWE FOR SENATE 2015 I have decided, relying on the help of God almighty, to vie for election into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015, to represent Anambra South Senatorial Zone, under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA. My main reason for offering myself to the service of my constituents is rooted in my age-long belief that the fortunes of our people can be positively transformed by good, honest and purposeful leadership. I believe it is time for us to finally stop accepting mediocrity, and translate our beliefs, experience and international exposure into positive actions towards catalyzing good governance and purposeful development. I believe in the transformative power of good leadership because I have seen it in action. I was in Public Service for ten years as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission during which, under my leadership, we transformed the NCC to an internationally respected institution earning a reputation as a strong, transparent and open regulatory agency. During that ten-year tenure at the NCC, the ICT industry witnessed tremendous growth and transformation, leading to what has been generally referred to as the era of Nigeria’s telecommunications revolution. After leaving the NCC, I have continued to serve the nation in various capacities including serving on the Presidential Committee on job creation as well as Co-chairman of the Presidential Committee to develop Strategy and Roadmap for universal Broadband Access for Nigeria. I have therefore decided to offer my years of experience and international reach to serve my people, ndi Anambra and the nation as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As a legislator, it will be my duty to stand up for what is right. My primary concern will be the welfare and progress of the people of Anambra South, the people of Anambra State, and the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It will be my duty to be accountable to my constituents, and it would be my honour to serve them as their representative in the Senate. I will represent a fresh crop of politicians that speak the truth and are committed to serving God and humanity selflessly. I am especially passionate about youth empowerment. A large portion of Nigeria’s current problems can be easily traced to youth disenfranchisement. My interest in supporting and empowering the youth is why I took a part time faculty position at the Lagos Business School to impart my experience on upcoming generations, in addition to personally doing what I can, wherever possible. I will focus on legislation that would encourage and engender the development of vocational skills, the creation of jobs, and the fostering of an enabling environment for entrepreneurship within state and the country. As a Senator, I will also make the development of the next generation of competent, responsible and honest politicians my mission. I will organise camps and conferences for young prospecting politicians from where we will have the resource pool of quality leaders for our great party APGA. I believe that success in this initiative would ensure a secure and better future for the Nigerian nation. I will advocate for statewide ubiquitous access to ICT services, especially high-speed broadband networks and infrastructure which have been widely acknowledged as crucial for the attainment of a knowledge society and access to life-enhancing services and information, and also transforming many industries, such as transportation, education, healthcare, finance and utilities. I will advocate for sensible and effectual use of resources, to ensure that the public gets good value for any spending made in their name. I will employ my vast international connections to support my state Governor and Mr President in attracting investment especially in the area of social infrastructure development. For my Constituents, it is my plan to set up full-fledged Senatorial offices in all the local governments in Anambra South Senatorial Zone. By so doing I will establish direct contact with each LGA to enable proper monitoring of development initiatives that will be attracted to each area with respect to public utilities, urban renewal, public safety and security. I will also be available on a regular scheduled basis to listen to the concerns of the people and proffer solutions as much as possible. Ndi Anambra are known to be generally entrepreneurial and it will be my task to initiate the siting of skill acquisition centers in the zone as well as International Business Schools within the state. The announcement of my candidature for this endeavour, has been received with excitement and words of encouragement from people around the country. I know that expectations are high for uplifting the quality of representation of our state at the National Assembly and for improving our democratic experience generally. I believe I have the necessary background, strength of character, courage and exposure to give that high quality representation that my Constituents desire and deserve. I hope to count on the support all well meaning people of Anambra South as I embark on this endeavour and together we can be the catalyst for positive change and the harbinger of hope for a more prosperous future for our state and our nation.
