Now that this saga is all over, I will share what has been going on with me medically the past few weeks. Three weeks ago, more or less, I developed a pain in my chest that went up through my shoulder and down my left arm. This unnerved enough of my co-workers that they convinced me to go to the ER. They didnt find anything of interest over there, so they referred me to a regular doctor, who found nothing of interest, so she referred me to a cardiologist. So I got to spend my day off yesterday being poked and prodded and running on a treadmill so they could tell me pretty much nothing except that I had a pain in my chest that went up through my shoulder and down my arm. Oh, and that it wasnt related to the heart in any way. So, aside from the doctor wanting me to lose two inches from around my middle, I was given a clean bill of health and sent on my way. I cant wait to see the bills for this episode. I didnt tell you all because there are those amongst you who would worry unnecessarily until the final tests were in, so I chose to spare you all the worrying until the final tests were in and there was no need to actually worry. So, for better or for worse, you all are stuck with me for a while longer. For those who are of the praying sort, I would ask that you pray for a co-worker of mine who is genuinely having some really severe cardiac problems. He is a dear sweet old man, one whom Ive come to like and respect a great deal over the past year, and, sadly, has all of the cards stacked against him right now. In spite of all of that, when I went to visit him yesterday he was in his usual good spirits. Im quite sure I have spent my last day working beside him, but hopefully will still have many years ahead to call him my friend.
