Now that we have our first direct evidence of cosmic inflation (a period of rapid expansion that occurred a fraction of a second after the Big Bang) science can now continue with the idea that our universe is just one of many out there. A multiverse in which possibly billions of self-contained membranes, like bubbles, and each containing a universe with properties that may be far different from our own, are floating in suspension and when two bubbles collide, a third bubble is formed fused with the properties of the two that collided. That would be the Big Bang and it may be happening all the time in a multiverse. Models of cosmic inflation point to this theory and its even difficult to construct these models without including a multiverse. So on we go as the search continues.
