Now that we have touched down on responsibility as it relates to stewardship, it is time to press forward to the principle of accountability.What kind of world would we be living in if there were no chartered accountants or as spoken in other parts of the world “certified public auditors,” etc.? I think you would understand quite clearly and extremely quickly that the world as we know it would go into utter chaos due to nothing balancing us. Stewardship recognizes this value and principle quite handily and not only gives deference but diffidence and honor as well. Again quoting from Bill Peel’s essay, he draws reference to the importance of this as follows: “Like the servants in the Parable of the Talents, we will be called to give an account of how we have administered everything we have been given, including our time, money, abilities, information, wisdom, relationships, and authority.We will all give account to the Rightful Owner as to how well we managed the things He has entrusted to us.” I can say after looking at this list that in many ways, I have come so short, but I am reminded once again it is time to wake up, stand up and smarten up.
