Now that youre paying attention, did you ever hear of #RamarleyGraham? Murdered on February 2, 2012, in his own home in the Bronx by NYPD officer Richard Haste, Ramarley was 18 years old. There was a manslaughter indictment for Haste but it was set aside on a technicality. New grand jury decided not to indict. Now, the NYPD is refusing to cooperate with the NYPD if we are to believe what they say. The case in nutshell: Ramarley was on his way home from school. Unarmed. Cop was a narco squad rookie. Ran after him then broke into his home without a warrant, shot him dead with Ramarleys grandmother and 6-year-old brother looking on. Ramarley died. When the cops realized Grandma was a witness, they smacked her down on the floor, handcuffed her and took her to the precinct for 7 hours of questioning. Ramarleys parents were not allowed to see his body for 4 days. This news piece is from this past Summer. People still werent paying attention. They are now. I wonder why Ramarleys case never made national news. Probably because it was so egregious. Please note that the same bad attitude from the courts carried over from the Bloomberg administration to the DeBlasio administration and most of the groups doing large scale organizing in NYC ignored this case. Very interesting. Its one of the worst cases ever. Murdered because he was Black on his way home from school and the cops just target Black kids and when they make fatal errors and bad decisions, they say its because they thought the kid had a gun. Awful. Ive grown to love Ramarleys parents and extended family over the past couple of years. I dont understand why so many social justice heroes ignore them for the most part. Heartbreaking. #ICantBreathe #BlackLivesMatter #NYC2Ferguson #EricGarner #ShantelDavis #MikeBrown #JusticeForRamarleyGraham #Justice4All 7online/news/the-case-of-ramarley-graham-revisited/270741/
