However, the bridge, believed to have cost a whopping N29 billion. Now Fast forward to March 10, 2014,AFTER many years of waiting and agitation by the people of South East, President Goodluck Jonathan, laid the foundation stone for the construction of second Niger Bridge linking Asaba in Delta State with Onitsha in Anambra State. At an impressive ceremony attended by people from all walks of life, including Governors Peter Obi of Anambra, Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta, Theodore Orji of Abia and Martin Elechi of Ebonyi, as well as ministers and members of the National Assembly, President Jonathan gave an assurance that the project would be completed on schedule and according to specifications. Pls note that this bridge is a mere 1,590 metres long The project is to be constructed by Julius Berger Plc. Construction cost was put at N117, 860, 700, 741. 82 vat inclusive. Now my people before you start bombarding me with analysis. Let me ask the following questions 1. If the road and other accoutrements for the bridge is inclusive and makes it 11.9 km... What is the actual cost of the bridge and what are those accoutrements. 2. Have you ever seen any bridge in the whole world that is constructed without the outlining connecting roads and accessories. If you have please be kind to educate us. 3. Why now and with funfare... Are we going to suffer the same fate of the Lagos- Ibadan Express-way?... 4. Which is better....
