Now turn the engine back to the upright position and take your intake gasket and put it on the intake side of the cylinder head. I always take a little bit of silicon sealer and put around the water ports on the head and then on the gasket towards the manifold. With this done take your sealer and put a 3/8” bead along the end rails on the block where the front and back of the manifold will be. Place the manifold on the heads and block and start inserting the intake bolts in their proper location. With bolts installed you can start to tighten the intake bolts. Start in the middle and crisscross from side to side working your way to each end of the manifold. Some engines have torques specs for the manifold and some do not. If you engine has torque specs for the manifold follow them and install the manifold. Now it is time to put the oil in the engine and prime the oiling system. Pour the recommended amount of oil in your engine being sure to follow the recommended amount that your oil pan and filter require. Once this is done you can take your oil pump primer shaft and install it just like you would the distributor making sure it makes contact and fits into the oil pump shaft. I always hook up a temporary oil gauge so that I can see the oil pressure as I prime the engine. Hook your drill to the primer shaft and spin the drill in the normal direction that it would turn with the engine running. I always make sure I have oil coming out of every push rod before I quit priming the engine. this can be achieved by rotating the engine 90 degrees several times during the priming process. Once this is completed you can remove the primer shaft and install the valve covers and you are done with the assembly of your engine. More net week ~ Big Dave
