Now when its rainy season, increased humidity is known to spoil your precious camera, microscope and telescope by causing fungal growth on lenses. Its like corneal opacity. So protect them by keeping them (without cover) in dry environment when not in use. I protect them by keeping them in a cardboard box preferably twice or thrice the size of the instrument (old computer box is ok), putting some desiccator (that pouch containing white crystals, usually comes within the box of electronic equipments when you purchase them) in the box and a low voltage bulb at the corner of the box so that it should not touch the equipment, turn it on so that light and heat emitted from the bulb keeps dry environment within the box (see to it that it should not make the box environment too hot). I am protecting my instruments that way since years. Hope it will help you too. Enjoy viewing and shooting marvellous views! (And of course you can protect your precious leather articles by same way) :)
