Nsesa Foundation presents Project iSWEST 2014 (Innovating Solutions with Engineering, Science & Technology), where 20 senior high school students (10 males & 10 females) in Ghana will be sponsored to attend a 4-week Innovation Program in Accra! The 3-part program consists of: 1.5-Week Intensive Workshop In the first part of the program, students will receive basic and hands-on training in Electronics, Robotics, Computer Programming, Microcontroller (Arduino) and Innovation. 2.5-Week Innovation Phase In the second part of the program, 4 teams of students will each receive funds and then work in teams to develop an innovative and cost efficient solution to a problem they have identified in the community over a two and a half week period using provided resources, locally available materials and the skills obtained from the workshop. The Pitch Day Students will then present and demo developed solutions to various problems to a panel of judges on “The Pitch Day”. Teams will be assessed on the impact, sustainability, technical feasibility and business viability of their projects. The most viable solutions will receive assistance for further development and commercialization. Theme: “The Next Generation of Ghanaian Entrepreneurial Innovators” Date: 11th August – 6th September Time: 9am - 4pm each day with a 1 hour lunch break Venue: Presbyterian Secondary School (PRESEC, Legon), Accra NB: Participants will have to commute to the venue throughout the duration of the program.
