Job Description: As our Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for providing general automotive maintenance services, quick lube and additional services in a professional and courteous manner to our valued guest. You will also be responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance services under MAP guidelines. Additional responsibilities for the Service Technician include: * Working on the brake systems, tire and battery sales and installation repairing * Completing computer systems diagnosis and providing tune-up and related system work * Completing all required computer-based training and other on the job training within the required timeframe * Reporting for shift on time and dressed in proper uniform including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), slip resistant shoes and good hygiene * Maintaining clean and safe work environment, including using all safety equipment and following all safety procedures * Greeting all guests within 5 feet, in a professional, pleasant manner * Attending store meetings, including monthly safety meetings * Following all Heartland Automotive Services and Jiffy Lube policies and procedure Additional requirements for our Service Technician include: * Must have the ability to explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non- mechanical individuals which may include another teammate or guest * Must be ready to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology * Read, write and speak English * Must be able to operate equipment such as (but not limited to) overhead and floor mounted oil and grease guns, transmission jack, air conditioner service machine, differential pump, hand tools, radiator service machine, transmission service machine, tire rotation equipment, computer, telephone and cash register * Must-be able to drive vehicles; must possess a valid drivers license * Must be able to stand on concrete or metal surfaces for extended periods of time; must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time * Work in an environment that frequently experiences extreme hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and exhaust fumes * Lift and move inventory items, trash cans and other work related items (up to 50 pounds.) * We do Administer a pre-employment drug test. * Must be able to push, pull, bend at the knees and waist, lift, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, climb steps, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, all of this for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the shift Benefits: We share our success with our Teammates through the following: * Competitive pay * Paid training * Fantastic monthly bonus potential * Health, Dental, and Vision insurance plans * 401(k) retirement plan * FREE quarterly conventional oil Jiffy Lube Signature Service(R) Oil Change * Generous discounts on purchases in our stores **Recruitment for this position will be @ Suffolk County Dept. of Labor, Licensing, and Consumer Affairs on: March 12, 2014 Wednesday 1:00pm - 3:30pm @ 725 Veterans memorial Highway Hauppauge, NY 11787
