Numbered Steps I asked my husband Brian for a very unusual - TopicsExpress

Numbered Steps I asked my husband Brian for a very unusual anniversary gift this year, a pedometer. Now it may not seem like an unusual present to some, but I tend to normally ask for typical, traditional gifts like flowers, chocolate and perfume. Well, I did get a pedometer and it is quite a fascinating invention, designed to measure how many steps I take in a day, and how far Ive walked while wearing it. Now wouldnt it be great to have a device that tells us not just how far weve gone but how far we will go? The Bible however, is very clear that we are not privy to that information. It is not for us to know when the end of our walk on earth will be, but to understand that God is the one who measures our day and sees us through each one of them. If we live out the year 2014, God will have given us 365 days broken into 8,760 hours. Of these hours, 2,920 will have been spent in sleep, and about the same number at school or work. And an equal number has been given us to spend in preparation for the moment when our days and years shall cease and time shall be no more. What prayer could be more appropriate than that of Moses: Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12). (above paragraph adapted from The Warfare of the Spirit, A.W. Tozer) It is important that we remember that all our days come to us out of the sheer mercy of God, unearned and undeserved. As we walk through the days, months and years of our lives, let us rest in knowing that God is the one who marks the beginning and the end. Knowing this, we need not worry about tomorrow, but enjoy every day given to us, living it to the fullest, sharing the good news of salvation and glorifying the Lord in everything we say and do. Our lives, each step weve taken and will take, are secure in Him. Blessed to live out May 21 for His glory, Pastor Sabrina Reach Out
