Numbers 14:8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Milk- 1 Peter 2:1-2 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: ... milk is the foundations of the word of God, not meaty doctrines. The foundations of christian life is laying aside all malice, all guile, hypocrisies, envies, and evil speakings. This is the first thing for believers! Getting rid of the fleshly competition between believers, the malice and envy over what one believer has over the other. honey- Psa 81:16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. --->satisfaction in the Lord. Psa 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! The word of God is SWEETER than honey, and a few times the word of God or a scroll is eaten and became like/as honey The promise land isnt always easy, Numbers 13:28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land... Numbers 13:28 ...and the cities are walled, and very great...(Proverbs 18:11 The rich mans wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit. --->The world has the money and the conceit to resist us.) Numbers 13:31 ...they are stronger than we. Numbers 13:32...all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants... Numbers 14:2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! (the rest of the christians may be against us and turn back to the world-discouragement of believers) Numbers 14:3 ... that our wives and our children should be a prey... (If you follow Christ it feels like your wife and children may be attacked by the devil, usually a worldly Christian looses their kids while thinking they didnt loose them when they turn out as worldly as themselves) Numbers 14:8-9 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. ---keep encouraging others to the victorious Christian life (even though they may want to stone you v.10) The attitudes of Joshua and Caleb made them the only ones of their age group to see the promised landed, everyone else died in the wilderness.... but it all started with the milk and honey!
