Numerous they were, the excuses my mind dredged up to not take my walk this morning. Not reasons for they were unreasonable. So, why did I fight with my funky mood and all the excuses and walk the walk? My conscience, which is quickened to bother me when I am leaning toward agreeing with some evil, and not to do the walk would not be good, so evil. Most of the evils we do are not shockingly bad things but often those things we might convince ourselves are neutral or barely good even. But, an evil is an evil and when the Spirit of God who is promised to us who are, in obedience to Jesus, endeavoring to repent of doing evil, convicts us that a thing is not good, we should and must, refuse it to be saved from it. I hope every believer quickly learns that the Holy Spirits concerns are not limited to churchy things but with every act of our will. So, having learned not to ignore and grieve the Spirit, I fought against the excuses for not walking and obeyed the Spirit, and I willed myself to walk. Each walk, you see, is largely a time of prayer when I largely listen and amazing things come to me, things I would have missed had I just lounged around and tried to convince myself I had acted wisely.
