Nurse Annette Alldrick says its not too late for the government to send clinicians to West Africa, to help fight the Ebola crisis. A recent survey conducted by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), has revealed 350 Australian nurses are willing to volunteer. Shoalhaven Hospital branch delegate for the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association (NSWNMA) Annette Alldrick says shes not surprised by the results. Thats what nurses do, they help people, Ms Alldrick said. Its a pretty dangerous and daunting prospect and if you go, you have to be very fit and ready to be under difficult circumstances, but I do know nurses want to help if they can. She says willing nurses should be allowed to assist the aid effort, and they should recieve support from the government to do so.
