Nutrition, does it matter? In the world of nutrition there is something called an essential nutrient. What is an essential nutrient? “Essential nutrients are nutrients that your body cant make on its own. How these nutrients are introduced into your body may have a great impact on how well they are utilized. Nutrients do not work alone but in concert (synergistically) with other nutrients.” From whfoods/nutrientstoc.php “The classical definitions: Nutrient: Substance in food that provides structural or functional components or energy to the body. Essential nutrient: Substance that must be obtained from the diet because the body cannot make it in sufficient quantity to meet its needs.” “What makes a nutrient essential? It is needed by the body, and we cannot make it from other materials IN ADEQUATE AMOUNTS. It is more or less necessary in metabolism. Biopterin is necessary in metabolism, but we can make all we need. In contrast, folic acid is equally necessary, but we cannot make it. Hence, folic acid is an essential nutrient.” From library.med.utah.edu/NetBiochem/nutrition/lect1/2_1.html So what does this have to do with health and chronic disease? There are 90 essential nutrients needed by the human body every day for good health. Generally you will not find them in the foods you eat, as 60% of your nutrient needs are minerals. The vitamins, amino acids and EFA’s you can get from plants as they can make them. But the minerals will only be in the plants if they are in the ground they are grown in. So the best way to achieve this body requirement is to supplement. So what happens when we do not meet this need? “the default state of the body is one of ceaseless regeneration. Without the flame-like process of continual cell turnover within the body – life and death ceaselessly intertwined – the miracle of the human body would not exist.” greenmedinfo/blog/6-bodily-tissues-can-be-regenerated-through-nutrition Ceaseless regeneration, that means that the body is always taking out the old and bringing in the new, rebuilding itself. But what happens if the body does not have all the raw materials it needs to complete the rebuilding part? It would be kind of like a rehad project on your house where you have doing the tare out but you only have 75 to 90% of what you need on have to rebuild it. Will the job get done if you never get the missing stuff? The same is true of your body, if you get 100% of the raw material needed for the rebuild project everything will be good. But if you are running short of the raw materials needed to do the job you will start to experience what the MD”s call genetic or autoimmune disease. We will just call it chronic disease. So what do you think happens when you start to bring in all the raw materials the body needs for the job? It continues its process of ceaseless regeneration; it starts to finish the rehab project it had to do a stop on. Now nobody knows where the point is that the body can no longer repair itself is except God. But you would be amazed at what people have been able to recover from, just from bring in the right raw materials needed by the body to do the job. So take the right amounts, of the right stuff to promote and support the structure and function of your body’s regeneration process and see how far you can bounce back. The last point I want to make here is that you are not suffering from a pharmaceutical deficiency. So yes Nutrition does matter, but are you absorbing the stuff you consume? Some people because of gluten problems can absorb calories but not nutrients. If you cannot absorb the nutrients it won’t matter what you take or how much if it is all going out the back door, and you will be hungry all the time (starving for the missing nutrients) if you are always running short on nutrition.
