Nyako flays impeachment panel 5 hours ago Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has said he will be appealing the setting up of seven-man panel by the state Acting Chief Judge, Ambrose Mammadi, to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against him and his deputy, Bala Ngilari. Justice Mammadi had on Friday set up the investigative panel in Yola, the state capital. The recommendations of the committee are expected to form the basis on which the state House of Assembly will decide the fate of the embattled governor and his deputy. Nyako and Ngilari of the All Progressives Congress are facing impeachment threats from the Assembly largely dominated by lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party. Speaking to SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, the Director, Press and Public Affairs, Government House, Yola, Adamawa State, Mr. Ahmad Sajoh, said, “We’ll challenge the setting up of the panel on the ground that the same judge that gave a judgment in the day time and then take an action contrary to the judgment in the evening. We are looking at the issue from the legal point of view. “The same Chief Judge gave an order there should be stay of action and then the House passed a resolution superseding his order; he cannot again take the resolution of the House and act on it. Our lawyers are working on the legal interpretation of the action and they will go to court.”
