Nze Anizor wrote and I reproduce: Having listened to Rotimi Fashakin on Channels TV this morning, I have come to the full understanding of what I prefer to call The Case of the Generals Certificate. Soldiers, presumably sent by General Ibrahim Babangida, reportedly raided General Buharis home after his overthrow and carted away some of his belongings including original copies of his certificates. Remember that the army spokesman recently accepted that they have Buharis certificates but insisted that Buhari must apply for them. Well, Buhari has stoutly refused to do any such thing given that the army have no business holding his documents in the first instance. But he needs those documents to vie for elections. So to get out of the conundrum, he swears to an affidavit stating that the documents are with the army and gets on with the election. Submitting the affidavit satisfies the Electoral Act, and anybody who thinks the contents of the affidavit are false is free to head to court to challenge it as stated by the Electoral Act and advised by INEC recently. The Court shall compel the Army, under subpoena, to produce Buharis documents, without him having to beg for it in the name of application. Fela would have called this a stalemate. The PDP being fully aware of this fact has no intention to go to court because they know it will be in Buharis interest. So they do the next best thing and decide to try him in the court of public opinion of people who do not have the facts, and then politically milk the situation for all it is worth. Buhari does not have to apply for certified true copies of his certificates from the schools he attended because the documents are not missing. I bet the APC leaders must have piled enormous pressure on him to apply to the army for the documents, but being who he is, hell do no such thing. Sort of a case of when you are tired of holding my documents, you return them to me. Vintage Buhari! Politics is ordinarily an interesting phenomenon but the Nigerian version is the bomb. Lol! And I hear some people ask if your employer asks for your certificates, wont you produce them?. Never heard of a more out-of-point, unintelligent analogy before in my life. Employer? Who is Buharis employer? PDP? TAN? Or those TANmites suffering from acute Nebuchadtivitis?
