O DPT MY DPT Please let the Peace Prevail on our Small Peaceful Country after all you all are Bhutanese and your Children s and Grand Children s have to enjoy the Happiness of This Small Country. DPT managed to run the first democratically elected government of Bhutan having won landslide victory. People had high expectations but lost hope gradually with series of scandals and lapses on the part of government. Yes, we had hope with the experienced ministers. For example, many hoped that education sector would be revamped, health sector would see new reforms, and so on so forth. Health scandals, lottery scandals, land scandals, education city scandals, Mckinzey project and other issues paralyzed the government and created considerable gaps between the people and the government. Most of the people lost faith with the elected officials. While not a session of the parliament went by without discussing pay and perks of the parliamentarians, the wages and salaries of other working people did not get proper attention. As I read the kuensel today, something drew my attention from the DPT’s 15 points allegation. 1. The most unhealthy is the case related to allegation of officials within HM’s Secretariat and the timing of granting of Kidu. According to my interpretation, this was not expected from DPT and its office holders including its president. Any insult to the HM Secretariat must catch attention of the Privy Council immediately. Appropriate explanations must be called from the DPT office holders immediately by the Privy Council. How can DPT question the prerogative of HM in granting kidu? Granting census could have helped both DPT and PDP because few people could participate in voting this time. What is wrong with this? 2. Case related to disallowing representatives at the closing of EVM must be routed through proper procedures. There is ECB, High Court and Supreme Court. Such cases must be routed through proper procedures. 3. Case related to involvement of armies and their families and Karma Ura’s case – Armies and their spouses/children can vote, why not. Any allegation must be routed through proper procedures. Just because Karma Ura wrote that article does not mean that all people will believe him. People have right to express their views and it does not mean that people will go by that. We are rational animals and we know what is what and which is good. Finally, I must say that DPT must not think that their election to parliament was life-long appointment as PM, Ministers and MPs. Based on the report in newspapers, it shows that the former office holders are not at all happy because they have to don BLUE SCARF. Remember, orange scarf is not given for whole life neither you can expect to run public offices during your whole lives. Please do not cry. This is the irony of life – we are immoral and we all have to die once. You will take kabney and patangs with you. What you will be remembered is your service to the humanities. All services will be appreciated if it does not demonstrate your vested interest.
