O mankind! We made you into nations & tribes, that ye may know each other. Made you into nations & tribes. Allah says, “O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male & a female, & made you into nations & tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge & is well acquainted (with all things).” [Al-Hujurat 49:13] Lord created you from a single person. Allah says, “O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, His mate, & from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men & women;- reverence Allah, through whom ye demand your mutual (rights), & (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.” [An-Nisa 4:1] He made his mate. Allah says, “It is He Who created you from a single person, & made his mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her (in love). When they are united, she bears a light burden & carries it about (unnoticed). When she grows heavy, they both pray to Allah their Lord, (saying): “If Thou givest us a goodly child, we vow we shall (ever) be grateful.” But when He giveth them a goodly child, they ascribe to others a share in the gift they have received: but Allah is exalted high above the partners they ascribe to Him.” [Al-A’raf 7:189-190] One people. Allah says, “ “If thy Lord had so willed, He could have made mankind one people: but they will not cease to dispute.” [Hud 11:118] Single Brotherhood. Allah says, “And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, & I am your Lord & Cherisher: therefore fear Me (& no other).” [Al-Mukminun 23:52] One single nation. Allah says, “Mankind was one single nation, & Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings & warnings; & with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.” [Al-Baqarah 2:213] Broken their religion. Allah says, “But (later generations) cut off their affair (of unity), one from another: (yet) will they all return to Us. PICKTHAL: And they have broken their religion (into fragments) among them, (yet) all are returning unto Us. SHAKIR: And they broke their religion (into sects) between them: to Us shall all come back. KHALIFA: However, they divided themselves into disputing religions. All of them will come back to us (for judgment).” [Al-Anbiya 21:93] One nation. Allah says, “Mankind was but one nation, but differed (later). Had it not been for a word that went forth before from thy Lord, their differences would have been settled between them.” [Yunus 10:19]
