O2 sensors went out after replacing water pump. HELP, HELP, HELP. so, on sunday i took my car to my mechanic to get the water pump replaced. after replacing it, and driving the car around for a few minutes, the check vsc warning came on, along with the check engine light and the traction control light coming on as well (i dont remember which order they came on). we connected a code reader which told us the set of O2 sensors went out, the ones before the cats? i have no idea what happened, for them both to go out like that is very odd. is it maybe because he didnt disconnect the battery before he started unplugging harnesses and what not that it may have shorted something out? anything would help. monday morning, i disconnected the battery, then discounted the computer part thats mounted on the front the motor, which is what was disconnected during the installation of the water pump. left unplugged for 20 minutes. connected the computer then the battery, still nothing. posted in club lexus, and someone said that it may have been from coolant getting on the headers/o2 sensors? ill try again at the end of the week, maybe everything didnt dry up in that short amount of time. its a 2006 is350 btw. 110k miles.
