OBJ FOR GMB; IBB FOR GEJ - DRIVEN BY VINDICTIVENESS Their relationship when the going was good was driven by quid pro quo, you rub my back, I rub yours. But they were both dishonest, perpetually trying to outdo each other. It didnt take long for things to fall apart for them. They became foes, diametrically opposed to each others interest. They even fought the battle of fools. They are both control freaks. Each would love to assume the role of sole afobaje (king-maker) on behalf of all of us and eventually become Baba-Oba after the protege becomes helmsman. But they always forget the sweeping presidential powers in our polity which makes it practically impossible for any president to kowtow to his installer. IBB helped to install OBJ in the first leg of his second coming. FFK, their common boiboi once reminded Baba. Baba would have none of that. OBJ practically singlehandedly foisted GEJ on the nation. But father and son would soon become estranged predictably. Now, its time to install another helmsman and each of them is in a quandary. There was no way a OBJ would fall in love with a GMB but its payback time for his estranged piking-Friday. Very simple: VINDICTIVENESS is driving him to GMBs side of the aisle not patriotism as he would want us to believe. Well, for me personally, thats a welcome vindictiveness since the iincumbent has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt his gross incompetence. (Sorry about that) On the other hand, there was no way a IBB would fall in line behind the Otuoke native but since the challenger GMB has become his sworn enemy from their coup and counter-coup days, VINDICTIVENESS has driven him to GEJS aisle to spite his nemesis. I just wish these two men would leave Nigeria alone. OBJ & IBB belong to our sordid past, theres simply no future in them. Whoever wins in February should ensure a decent permanent retirement for the duo.
