OCBC’s Ms Selena Ling pointed out the higher rental costs is one of the major concerns of businesses. Property consultancy Knight Frank said in its forecast in September that rents in Singapore are expected to rise the fastest in Asia-Pacific from this year to 2019, by 25 percent. And when businesses have to choose between adjusting rental and wage costs, businesses would choose to adjust wages because they provide a little bit more room for negotiation.
