OCCULT POLITICS: MY FRUSTRATION! It simply amazes me as to the consistent and rapid growth of intolerance to internal criticisms by some persons in some key political parties. Well! Away from the mundane, I must name these parties, without the intent of shaming but correcting. I have consistently criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on many of such instances. I have described the NPP as a party that lacks internal democratic luster; when their many communicators have spewed highly derogatory comments on individuals who have boldly and publicly disagreed or complained of certain phenomena in their parties. Quite recently; the spotlight was on Dr. Charles Wirreko-Brobby (Tarzan) and Dr. Auther Kennedy, both of NPP, for making comments which according to their colleague Party Gurus were inimical to the political goodwill of their party. Well! Whether the effect of their disagreeing assertions was real or fictional; I still condemn, with the loudest voice I can summon, the approach and manner in which they were treated. In deed, what goes round really comes around! I painfully accept the fact that the intolerance is not only NPPs but the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is equally so. Just shortly after the Supreme Court verdict, the Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency, Dr Tony Addo, openly complained of how his important office is almost in inertia. Many communicators of the NDC descended heavily on him with many insults and unprintable descriptions of the all-time-good Tony Addo. As a regular user of Facebook, I had to make a composition to disagree with those who sought to crucify Dr Tony Addo (on October 1, 2013). I find it laughable when some small, small boys attempt to teach the elderly the way of politics, and they go on gushing insults. I remember with iconic accuracy that on the election day (December 7, 2012) when for technical reasons, the transmission of results from my constituency (Nalerigu/ Gambaga) to the NDC National Election Directorate delayed, Dr Tony Addo called me to find out why. He was so dedicated and concerned about the electoral victory of the NDC; he has been so all along, even way back to the PNDC era. Yes, remains! Only two weeks ago another internal explosion seems to have occurred in the NDC. This time the detonator was the seasoned Lawmaker, Alban Kingsford Sumanu Bagbin. The responses to Honourable Bagbins assertions was as inappropriate as before. Like many others, his many years of labour to his party was not even important to his critics. Sometime around 2006, I was actively involved in a series of demonstrations to the Parliament House against the Kuffours Administration on the enactment of the Representation of the Peoples Amendment Law (ROPAL). This law sought to get all Ghanaians in the diaspora to vote in all public elections in Ghana. There in the Parliament House, the show was Bagbins. I can guarantee that if ROPAL had pulled through, the NPP would still own the Chambers of Power. As young man and an evolving politician, I get sick when I look at these phenomena. Many a time, I ask myself whether politics is the way to go? I love my party, the NDC. Loving my party does not taint my intellectual gleam. So, do not misinterpret my essay for impishness. I am simply expressing my frustration for seeing things in my party that I criticized other parties for. Just that! Politics in Ghana is rapidly becoming distasteful for men and women of goodwill. It has become what I call OCCULT POLITICS - no room to criticise the Grandmaster. You become an enemy and an outcast if you dare say anything bad against your cult. Oh! In our case, against your government or party. This Occult Politics is, by far, worser than the winner takes all practice. Even among the winners, powerful brains may be irrationally but occultly despised. I can predict with all certainty that the occult politics is what will take governments out of power to opposition faster than the indices of corruption or non-performance or any other factors. Conversely, it will keep parties longer in opposition if the phenomenon is more so with them. Another frightening inimicality of this phenomenon will be what I call High Profile Assassination. Men will behave like the Chimps! No camaraderie, no esprit de corps; just occult politics! ## From my Cattle Ranch, Nalerigu ##
