OCCUPY SEKHUKHUNE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION 2015 CAMPAIGN! The campaign to have former Sekhukhune College of Education re-opened seems slims. Since 2012, we have been in and out of offices of the authorities at local and provincial offices in the department of public works and education - to have the only college in Fetakgomo Local Municipality and the 3rd compass in a population of close to a million to be opened. In 2012 September, we have submitted a memorandum at local offices regarding the above course. In 2013, we had meetings with officials at the province and national about Sekhukhune college facilities and the possibility of re-opening this facility for whatever reasons of learning. In 2014, the whole year we have raised our grievances, through toyi-toyis, that can we have our college being re-opened? We are tired of being junkies with no future! The authorities have ignored all these calls. The authorities have looked far away from the what the people need, demand and request from them. The only thing they do with this facility is to rent it for private residence. We know that public officials linked to the tenderpreneurs in the department of education through text book deliveries have been using this facility as storage for books. The money collected from those who stay in this facility goes in to the pocket of senior officials, somewhere in tender park. We call for the Occupy Sekhukhune College Campaign. From now until we occupy it on the ever of March 2015. Communities, students, activists, socialists, local taxi and business associations, community forums and etc, should avail themselves in the mass meeting scheduled for February 28, at Civic Hall Fetakgomo municipality. The purpose is to occupy Sekhukhune college and turn it into our hostel where we can live and educate each other in the classrooms in the form of an institution of higher learning and residences for the families of students. Watch the space!
