OCEANS Both Dr. Alana Mitchell, Seasick and Dr. Callum Roberts, - TopicsExpress

OCEANS Both Dr. Alana Mitchell, Seasick and Dr. Callum Roberts, Ocean of Life both consider the worst causes of burning fossil fuels and climate warming to be the acidification of oceans from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Thus shelled creatures lose shells from acidification and their rotting carcases cause sulfur dioxide and other gases which may have in the past caused extinctions on land as well. (Gwynne Dyer in Climate Wars). This process essentially a change of state of the oceans to a eutrophic state and without oxygen – anoxic. This to Mitchell and Robert is the worst impact of climate warming. Dalhousie University has said that we can expect a collapse in ocean fisheries by 2050. In such a setting jelly fish become supreme because they can tolerate low oxygen. But sea level rise is also a hazard. Further coral beds, which are the nurturing beds for fish in the oceans, are being killed off. These are the very sources of diversity of life in the oceans. Yet there is no regulatory force to manage fishing properly and oil spills also take a vast toll. If all the money that oil companies absconded with by not doing due diligence was put into green energy, then green energy would be the most cost efficient to use by far, partly because the oceans would be safe.
