OCT 27-This Day in Beatles History: 1963-For the 26th straight week, the Beatles debut British album, Please Please Me was No.1 in the UK. The LP would remain on top for 4 more weeks before being knock off by the groups next album, With The Beatles...1966-For the first time in 11 weeks, the Beatles were not at the top of the album chart in the USA. After a long chart run for the LPs Yesterday and Today and Revolver, on this day Motowns Supremes took over the top spot with Supremes A Go-Go...1969-In the USA, it was Gold Record day for the Beatles as they received awards for sales of the double-sided hit single Something and Come Together. They were also rewarded for sales of the critically acclaimed album, Abbey Road...meanwhile, on that same day in 1969, at the Abbey Road studios in London, Ringo, with help from producer George Martin, began recording songs for his forthcoming LP, Sentimental Journey. Thus, Ringo was the first of the Beatles to formally record a solo album...1986-Paul McCartney and Wings Greatest Hits was released on CD...1989-Paul and his band performed in Milan, Italy during their Get Back World tour...
