OCTOBER TO REMEMBER Today I remember Elder O. O. - TopicsExpress

OCTOBER TO REMEMBER Today I remember Elder O. O. Johnson. OOJ worked as a civil engineer at BEKADO, a civil construction company in Ikot Ekpene. Always happy to serve, give, encourage, and related with young and old. My father Sunday Charlie served as head of the Community of Christ in Nigeria and was highly respected. He will schedule two day pastors and priesthood training events. For some reason I didnt know, my father will always make me go with him. My plans were always disrupted, but because I was able to drive, I would gladly drive him to the venue. I always have my agenda on those trips, who to see, what to do, etc. When those plans fail, I will just sleep in the car, totally disinterested in whatever is happening inside the church. Elder O. O. Johnson noticed all of these attitudes and decided to literally whip me to come out and listen to the training. He would say dont you know in a few years from now you will be the one teaching. I considered such statements as a disruption to my social life. But he would not quit. Whenever I see him coming I will run. It came to the point where I couldnt run and began going into the church to listen to my fathers teachings. Elder O. O. Johnson foresaw who and what I will be. He didnt relent in scolding me, sometimes publicly until I changed. Eventually, I served the church and was conducting and teaching at priesthood gatherings and retreats like my father did. O.O.Johnson had a great imprint in my life setting me up from young age to learn something which I was later to use in life. I later on blessed their marriage about a decade ago. For this and many more, live long Elder and thank you.
