ODM condemns in the strongest terms possible the shocking decision - TopicsExpress

ODM condemns in the strongest terms possible the shocking decision by the Jubilee administration to withdraw the digital broadcasting license awarded to the African Digital Network, (ADG), a consortium jointly owned by Royal Media Services, the Nation Media Group and the Standard Group. The party notes with grave concern that frequencies are grossly skewed in favour of foreign players. We question the award of PANG a Chinese company, 120 Digital Frequencies, Signet (KBC) 54, Lancia Media 11, DMTV (GoTV) 5 while CITIZEN TV, KTN, and NTV under the ADNL Consortium share a paltry 21 digital frequencies. The withdrawal of the licenses is an act economic sabotage against the media stations that collectively command nearly 70 percent of local TVviewership. If not addressed and the cancellation revoked forthwith, it will lead to massive loss of revenue and jobs to Kenyans. ODM considers this to be a serious threat to strategic national interest and a damaging attack against local investors. We firmly stand with the media at this latest in a litany of vile assaults against the Media by the Jubilee administration, in utter violation of the letter and spirit of the constitution.
