ODM nominations for the Homa Bay senatorial race ended in disarray - TopicsExpress

ODM nominations for the Homa Bay senatorial race ended in disarray yesterday, after rowdy youths dismantled election materials, forcing officials to indefinitely call off the exercise. In a scene reminiscent of the infamous men-in-black fiasco when they bungled ODMs internal polls on February 28, the chaotic youths stormed the Homa Bay County Assembly hall, tore up ballot papers and kicked ballot boxes in the full glare of media cameras.Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma however blamed the failed nomination process on the IEBC, saying that they gave too short a notice for picking candidates.“Homa Bay county residents were anxious to know who the ODM flag-bearer is and since the IEBC gave us such short notice, the blame lies squarely with them,” Kaluma said.“The public had developed little trust in the delegates. They said the delegates themselves were enticed by the aspiring candidates,” he said.Candidates Rabongo and Okundi condemned the hooliganism and asked the party to conduct credible, free and fair nominations.“I was the chair of this party and served it with due diligence for five good years. I feel depressed to see these barbaric acts erupt amidst what we expected to be a peaceful process,” Okundi said.....What might the problem in the Odm leadership and more over in men with black?
