OFC Champions League More glory for Auckland as gallant Amicale denied (FIFA) Sunday 18 May 2014 Share Auckland City have qualified for their sixth FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Amicale 2-1 at home in the OFC Champions League final second leg. The New Zealanders have won the past three continental titles but needed a winner from Emiliano Tade three minutes from full time to see off a gallant Amicale. Following a 1-1 draw in Port Vila the Vanuatu side held a half-time lead thanks to a Kensi Tangis strike just before the interval. It could have been even better for Amicale but defender Colin Marshall saw his earlier spot-kick saved by Auckland’s Tamati Williams. Ryan De Vries drew the two teams level once again midway through the second half, before Argentinian Tade secured the comeback win as extra time loomed. Amicale were aiming to become the only non Australian or New Zealand club to claim the title, aside from the famed win by Papua New Guinea’s Hekari United in 2010.
