OFFICER RANDY VOGT TO BE RECOGNIZED AS POLICE OFFICER OF THE MONTH ONCE AGAIN: On Thursday, May 29, at approximately 12:04 AM, P/O Vogt responded to a radio call of a theft in progress on the 700 block of Solly Avenue. Flash information detailed a white male wearing all dark clothing going through a silver vehicle. Upon arrival Officer Vogt was met by a witness who directed Officer Vogt to the 800 block of Solly Avenue where he observed a male fitting the flash leaning inside a silver Lexus rummaging through the center console. Officer Vogt also observed cell phone cases and chargers on the ground at his feet. The suspect admitted to checking cars for loose change. At this time the vehicle owner arrived, identified the cell phone cases and chargers as his and denied knowing the suspect or giving permission for his vehicle to be entered. The suspect was charged with Theft from Motor Vehicle (M1) and Theft-RSP (M1). Officer Vogt’s quick response and observational skills resulted in the arrest of the suspect in a District where thefts from auto have been a persistent problem over the years. We, therefore are proud to recognize Officer Vogt as Police Officer of the Month for May, 2014.
