OFFICIAL POSITION OF ESDC – Lobbying Lobbying or influencing key people to own advantage, in itself, is not bad or good. In business this act serves a necessary and even vital function. As long as no laws are broken, business to business lobbying should be encouraged. The problem arises when private entities, to further their personal interests, attempt to influence government officials. While this may have certain advantages, such act undermines the much needed transparency within the government and creates distrust in political leaders. Above that, because wealth is so closely tied to politics, lobbying promotes the gap between the rich and the poor. Solution to this problem is not that complex. One, a clear code of conduct for political leaders and businesses, that outlines what each side can and cannot do, is absolutely necessary. Two, a timely and transparent line of communication between state officials and private sector must be established. Three, undisclosed "behind closed doors" lobbying should be made illegal. These basic steps will eliminate majority of problems that arise from lobbying. Furthermore, if implemented correctly, they will give greater voice to small and midsize businesses that are largely unrepresented and unsupported within the government under the current system. This in turn will unquestionably boost the economy, create jobs and overall business growth. earthspheredevelopment/1/post/2013/09/official-position-of-esdc-lobbying.html
