OFFICIAL STATEMENT Re: Hearing Date and Time for Greg Kelley September 12, 2014 A hearing to consider Greg Kelley’s motion requesting a new trial has been scheduled and will take place on Monday, September 29th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. This hearing will take place in Georgetown and Judge Michael McSpadden, from Harris County, will preside over this hearing. September 29th is also the deadline for a decision on a new trial for Greg Kelley. Judge McSpadden will also be responsible for making this ruling. The deadline will expire at midnight on September 29th, so a decision may not be made until late in the day after the hearing is concluded. We are excited to have the opportunity to present our case to Judge McSpadden, and feel confident that he will see the issues that were in play during the investigation and trial of Mr. Kelley, along with new evidence that will be submitted at this hearing, and come to the conclusion that a second trial is required. Greg Kelley deserves and is entitled to a fair investigation and trial, as are all of us. Unfortunately, he did not receive it the first time. We would also like to make mention that our hearts go out to the youngest victim in this case and his family. We believe that something very well could have happened to him, but we just don’t believe that it was Mr. Kelley who did it. We pray for their family consistently and do not wish to cause them any further grief, but we also cannot ignore an injustice that has impacted two families. Our ultimate goal throughout this process is that everyone be treated justly, fairly, and according to the law.
