OFFSEESERNHIA? How would you gauge the actual muscle gains that you build, say, over a certain time-frame? Well, in the context of bodybuilding contests, have you ever noticed how certain competitors always weigh in at the same weight year after year? Some bulk-up like hogs during the off-season and then diet themselves down to the same bodyweight, time and time again...why is this? Gain 20 friggin kilos off-season to diet down again to 80 kilos? Just because you look big off-season DOES NOT mean you will stay big in-season. The true measure of your worth as a bodybuilder is how skillfully you maintain your gains as you diet away the off-season excess!Yea dude, you sure look BIG in that OVER-SIZED t-shirt. Dont use the off-season as an excuse to throw all caution to the wind and indulge in junk food. The off-season is a time to pack on as much muscle size whilst keeping careful tabs on the accumulation of body fat. Remember to eat strategically...NOT haphazardly! For those who compete regularly in contests, its even more important to stay in shape during the off-season! If you gain too much WEIGHT (fat and muscle inclusive) during the off-season, it will be much harder to keep much of your lean mass during the dieting process when your body fat is too high! Doesnt make sense to me. However, there are some smart dudes out there who manage to keep their gains from the off-season without having to lose much, if any of their hard-earned muscle...the true test and worth of a bodybuilder is how smart he or she is in maintaining his or her gains from the off-season without compromise! Off-season means off-season. How much muscle you have the moment you step on stage is the physical zenith of all your hard work. Off-season means...youre fat.
