OGBANIGBE OBIOR HOLDS TOMORROW The famous Ogbanigbe festival celebrated by Obior people in Aniocha North LG of Delta State, Nigeria will hold at Obior town on Saturday (19th Oct, 2013) being nkwor day. When UE visited the town early on Thursday, it was discovered that the town is already wearing a festive look. Obior sons and daughters have arrived their respective homes waiting for the festival to take off. One thing with Obior people is that they dont joke with this particular festival. They made sure the festival is properly done year in, year out. For example, the eke market which fall on Saturday has been tilted backwards and to take place today. This is to enable the Ogbanigbe flourish without distractions. A first class chief who spoke to UE on Thursday said This is our culture and tradition and dont joke with it. It comes once in a year and we give it our best. Christainity no reach here. It must be done the way our forefathers did it hundred years ago. no dilution Recall that in those days, once Ogbanigbe Obior is celebrated on Saturday, Iwu Ubulu is placed on fire the next day being Sunday. It lasts for five days before the iwu is brought down by the legendary Umuanugwe.
