OH MY GAWD!!! I simply cant stand it any longer! I have been quiet about this issue for too long. People, people, people....please, for all that is sacred, learn how to use I and me properly in a sentence!!! Its one of the easiest grammatical rules out there. Yes, I am talking to you, a lot of my fellow dance instructors. Heres the rule...If you want to say, please join John Doe and me/I for our lesson and dance afterwards To see if youve conveyed your message correctly, separate the John Doe from the me/I and read the sentence both ways. Does it sound right to say please join John Doe for the lesson ? yes. Check. Does is sound right to say please join me for the lesson? yes. Check. Does it sound right to say please join I for the lesson? NO NO NO! This works the same for the use of myself You wouldnt say please join myself for the lesson. As a side note: it is correct to say please join us for the lesson as long as youve identified who Us is or you have a turd in your pocket. Heres the other way it works: John and I/me went to the store. John went to the store” yes. Check. I went to the store yes. Check. Me went to the store NO NO NO We went to the store okay-dokey. Please, people stop making my eyes bleed. Disclaimer: I make grammatical and spelling errors all the time but I _really_ try not to. (Oops, there’s one right there! Gold star for anyone who catches it.) But I think why would I ever believe someone would want to pay me money to teach them anything when I cant even arrange a marketing sentence properly.
