OHIO - The Sunbury Police is currently investigating an incident that occurred on 9-3-2013 in the 70 block of Southview Drive. A female pet owner arrived home to find her cat lying beside her driveway. As she started walking toward the cat she realized that the cat wasnt moving and was bleeding. Initially she believed that the cat was struck by a vehicle. The cat was taken to a local vet and upon examining the cat it was determined that the cat had been shot by pellet. The damage by the pellet had severed a vertebrae and it was determined that the cat would need to be euthanized. If anyone has any information regarding this case please call 740-965-1411. Sunbury Village Code 549.08 states that: No person shall discharge any air gun, rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol or other firearm within the corporate limits of the Municipality. Violation is a Misdemeanor 4th degree Sunbury Village Code 505.05 states that: No person shall maliciously, or willfully, and without the consent of the owner, kill or injure a farm animal, dog, cat or other domestic animal that is the property of another.
