OK - Ive been avoiding this all day. I REALLY need your thoughts and prayers for Kitty. Yes, wonder girl has shocked us all every time shes pulled out of near death. We thought Labor Day was it. She said no. Shes had many ups and downs since. We had to let her pal Herman cross the bridge last week, and she is lost., She has major dementia, which is affecting everything, including her eating. She has been deaf for sometime, and now it would seem her eyesight has all but gone, and rapidly. She wanders about, running into things. If we dont pay absolute close attention, she will still sometimes manage to get herself thru the dog door, but IF she tries to use Hermans ramp (which weve been trying to teach her); she still will usually try to jump off it mid-way (which means fall off it and/or land badly). Its only 3 steps from porch to patio, but she launches herself, and lands very badly. Last night, while I was bawling, trying to prepare myself and get ready for Georgie Project, we were talking about IS IT TIME?? Jim feels that when she can no longer get up, stand, walk, and wont eat at all... SO, this isnt to say Im right or wrong, hes right or wrong, but its to say Kitty will be probably be crossing the Rainbow Bridge in the not too distant future. Were preparing ourselves now for whats been our long goodbye.... I want people to know how much all of your support and love has meant. I think (in addition to Tracy Campion), it was karma that I was invited to, and now sit on the board of AHELP ( ahelpproject.org ): Comfort and empowerment around end of life choices for you and our animal friend. We want to keep our animal friend comfortable, but seek support to know what lies ahead and to make difficult decisions.
