OK - before I face whatever todays results hold for me, I would like to clear one matter! This is a message I sent to someone who decided to unfriend me as a consequence of my compassion towards the innocent women and children being killed in Israel - it pretty much explains what needs explaining, methinks! Chat conversation start 2 minutes ago Hi *****. I can see that you chose to unfriend me so thought Id message you out of courtesy. I can hazard a guess as to why this happened...? Assuming I am correct in my assertion, if you feel that my stance regards the killing of innocent women and children wrong, perhaps you should have expressed this to me. I could have just as easily excluded you from my posts. I was raised to believe that the killing of defenceless innocent civilians is wrong, just as it was during the holocaust. I do not make concessions for anyones religious beliefs under such circumstance as I believe we are all human and have the right to life, and to live that life with dignity. My grandfather was one of the first soldiers in the British Army to enter the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945, during its liberation. My father is an expert on all matters relating to that horrific period in history. The horrors, anyone with a heart, will carry in memory for so long as they shall live. I would just like for people to understand the killing of those innocent women and children, crosses no divide, religious or otherwise. I am actually in awe at the lack of compassion shown by some. I go with Ban Ki-moon on this and his criticism of Israels heavy handed tactics on a defenceless peoples. Attack Hamas by all means, but not the innocent. There is wrong on all sides in this very sad situation. Social media is, sadly, not all about fun, or promoting business. It is a very valuable tool that can bring about change, raise awareness as to the ills of this world, and the plight of people associated with the same. My point is that if I see an injustice being done, I will speak out about it. Enough is enough and it is time all this mindless killing and wars stopped. One can hope, at the very least.
