OK--I, Thomas E Conder, Jr, make the following confession of my own free will. Im having an airhead day, which is very rare for me. The staff from Vanderburg United Methodist Church had lunch today at OCharleys (Free Pie Wednesday!). I get there early. I have developed a habit lately of putting my car keys in my coat pocket. But today it is 60 degrees, so I took off my coat and put it in the car and of course, LOCKED it. INSTANTLY, I realized what I had done. I quickly ran through my options and make the dreaded text to my wife what I had done. She was very kind and simply said shed drop off her set of keys soon. A few minutes later, she texted that one of her church members--the spouse of a member of the staff over there, was going to bring my keys. I assumed that meant she was coming to eat there. Soon, she walked in and gave me my keys. I was beyond grateful and embarrassed that she wasnt even eating there, just driving by--so very very kind of her to do in light of my being thoughtless. I continued to be bothered that I did that. I simply dont remember ever locking my keys in the car. I confessed what I had done to our wonderful staff, who didnt make fun of me. Time to leave, I go to my car for air head moments to continue. The electric door opener on my wifes set of keys was not working. I stood there and tried and tried and tried, forgetting for a while that the key still works--duh. Put the key in and make entrance to the car, started it up, buckled up and took a moment to sigh over my brain not functioning well today. Then I looked both ways to make sure it was clear to back out of the parking space. Thats when I saw it. Yup--just when you think it cant get worse. I saw it. BOTH windows on the passenger side of the car were completely rolled down. My coat (with the key in it) sitting in the passenger seat. Im done. Please feel free to leave insults, jokes, harrassment, etc below. I deserve it. Thank you Kim Miller for bringing me the keys. Thank you Andrea Redard Conder for arranging it. :(
