OK- touchy subject. While I hate war, there may be times it becomes justified. I do not understand, however, the Thank you for protecting our country sentiment on Veterans Day. We have not had a war that I can think of since Ive been alive that actually protected our country. Weve had wars over political ideology (Vietnam), over resources that weve decided we needed to take (Vietnam and Iraq), over the presidents Daddy issues (Iraq), and for many other reasons, but none of them were about protecting our country. And Im aware of the class connection as to who goes into the army and other services. That said, why do we continue the mythology that those in the Armed Services protect our country and should be thanked for doing so? Open for discussion.
