OK Friends: Here it is:: Our policy in this group, A FRIEND IN NEED, is to keep things positive and not exploit or share unpleasant or damaging information. This is our creed and this is how we roll. BUT today, something took place that could easily happen again and I want to warn everyone so it does not happen to them ! That is the purpose of this post: to make our members aware that there are bad people out there just waiting to find a target for their evil ways. Read and heed this please! About a month ago, a young couple found themselves in a predicament , partially of their own doing (they had been taken advantage of financially by a family member), partially through no fault of their own. The result was : They needed a place to live quickly. They advertised on some of the Swap pages the fact that they needed a place to rent and how much they could afford to pay and when they would need to move in. One of our admins, Jackie Murphy, answered their post and informed them that there were trailers for rent in Foxcroft Village in Loch Sheldrake and pointed them in the direction of one that was available. They made an appointment and met with the landlord, made a rental agreement (verbally) and moved into the dwelling after paying their rent and a portion of their deposit. This was Dec 1. Two days ago there were informed by the HOA (Home Owners Association / Office) that they would have to move immediately. The man they rented the trailer from was NOT the owner at all , but instead was RENTING TO OWN the trailer and had not paid his lot rent nor his regular rent (in other words, he took off with their money). He is a thief , obviously. He is a creep and a cad and a bad man , obviously. SO, the couple and their 3 yr old child were faced with living in the street immediately, with no claim what-so-ever to this residence. The landlord also bullied them into believing that they had to leave their **washer and dryer behind when they moved because they had initially agreed to do so. (, the people assuming they would be in the home for several years and had told him they would leave it when they moved) . These people are what one might call special people who are trusting and docile. Never ever did it occur to them that this would or could happen. To make a long story short, the HOA / Office found them another trailer to rent in the park which they now themselves will RENT TO OWN, a common practice for people in trailer parks it seems. They moved today, bag and baggage , into their new residence and took their appliances with them (washer and dryer) . They left the place they moved out of clean and shining, certainly not the way they found it. I went to see them at 6 pm to make sure all had gone smoothly and they were indeed moved. I left a note for the unscrupulous landlord telling him that if he had any further business or issue with these people, he was to contact me, not them. I left him my contact info. He is not to bother them or engage them again in any way. Myself, Julie Sandoval and several others will make sure of that and if he should be foolish enough to make more trouble , the police can and will be contacted and charges will be filed. So please beware Friends !! If you rent a place, make sure the people you are renting from have the right to let the place to you. Con man are everywhere, waiting to take advantage of good solid people. Check and recheck and then check again !!! Be your own best friend !! Like our member Leona Miranda said There is a special kind of hell for people like that. I think she is right and since this man may have a family who are not at fault here, I will not name him publicly BUT I will upon request send his name to anyone who may need or want to know. That SPECIAL HELL is waiting for you Buddy !! Change your ways before it is too late ! ** Washer and Dryer were given to this couple by the estate of Larry Mostel, one of our members recently deceased, with the permission of the Executrix. This was done legally generously, not that this is anyones business, but there has been speculation about this and I put it to rest here and now. The buck stops here Friends, enough is enough !
