OK Friends! I need your help! Many of you have seen the video of my mother cheering on the Cavs from Friday night. In fact, more people saw it than I could even imagine. It has been viewed more than 3,400 times. I mean...wow. This has prompted me to upload it to You Tube and my siblings and I are now on a mission to give my mom the opportunity to meet LeBron himself. I just sent this email below to the Cleveland Cavaliers via Facebook and the NBA site. I am asking you all to view the video on You Tube...trying to get it to go viral, maybe? Who knows! Would love for a share of the video, my letter below, or anything to draw attention to the cause! Thanks!.... #LeBronJames #Cavs #LeBron #ClevelandCavaliers Hello! My name is Dini Ricchiuti and I wanted to share the video below of my mother, Anita. I hope you take the time to watch it. You see, my mother is literally LeBron James biggest fan. However, shes not his biggest fan in that she collects shirts or sports collectibles of LeBron. Instead, the manner in which she supports him is what makes it so special. You see, awhile back when LeBron left Cleveland to join the Miami Heat, it seemed everyone in the state of Ohio turned their back on him. It appeared every Cleveland Cavalier fan, especially those who lived in Northeast Ohio, hated him, felt hurt and betrayed and burned jerseys and bad-mouthed him. Not my mother. In fact, no one was permitted to talk badly about him in her presence and if you did, watch out. She always had his back, always supported him...all through his career with the Miami Heat. My siblings and I didnt have an opinion either way about LeBrons departure from Cleveland. We like many people understood his decision however we were pretty bummed we couldnt call LeBron our own, like many people felt. But, it didnt stop us from trying to get a rise out of our mother. She would call us and say did you see the Heat game last night? and we would say no, mom. Youre the only person who still likes the guy. Again, just to get a reaction from her...which was always all of you people are ridiculous! He didnt do anything wrong! Hes a class act!...amongst many other supportive commentary. And she never missed a game. Even through caring for my father in the last months of his life. We lost our father in July of this year, a victim to metastatic prostate cancer. My mother lost her husband of 57 years. When my father’s illness took a turn for the worse in December of 2013, his physical and mental condition started a slow, yet very steady decline. Gradually he stopped talking, stopped being able to sit up on his own, had to be fed and bathed and in the last couple weeks was completely bed ridden. My mother slept upright in a chair watching over him for months. At 77 years old, with knee trouble and arthritis, the things she was pulling off physically to take care of my dad was something extraordinary. She cried all the time, was physically & emotionally exhausted, and literally lived every second of her life dedicated to caring for my dad. There would be no nursing home for him. She insisted on caring for him. Hospice would come to take vitals and help her bathe him, but as far as she was concerned, she would be the one to care for the man she loved nearly her entire life. Through all of this, besides the joy us kids and the grandchildren would bring her, LeBron James and watching him play and cheering for him was literally the only light for her. She got so much joy out of watching him play and would even work her schedule of my dad’s care (which she had down to a science) around being able to sit with my dad and watch The Heat. When LeBron announced his return to Cleveland, the first thing out of my mother’s mouth was Oh boy, would I love to be able to see him play someday and it would be so awesome to meet him! Well she is getting that opportunity see him play on Saturday, November 29th. She is attending the game with my oldest brother and 2 of my nephews. The video Im sharing was taken by me on Friday Night, November 14th during the game against the Celtics. I filmed it because she was just so into it. This is how she watches the Cavs and LeBron. Every time. She cant sit still. And she talks to the TV as if you all can hear her. Not sure what magic can be pulled here. She cries all the time over missing my father, and is down and out most days when we arent keeping her mind busy. It seems the only happiness she gets these days is from her love for her children, her grandchildren, the occasional slot machine and yes....LeBron James. Thank you for listening! Hope you enjoy the video below! youtube/watch?v=xO42MwaXFN0 Sincerely, Dini Ricchiuti
