OK, I kinda like this, dont hate me. Creed was like Nickelback ten years ago. Everybody ragged on them but somehow they still managed to sell millions of records. Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed is now homeless and penniless and his ex-wife is trying to get him committed because she thinks he has lost his mind because he is drug-addled and keeps posting video rants on YouTube about how he was robbed of his money by record companies and his manager. This seems easy to write off, but lots of bands have the same story. After the Goo Goo Dolls finished their first gold record, they were a million bucks in debt to the record company because they signed a bad contract and they had to tour their asses off just to pay off the debt. I just read an article about Badfinger that was truly tragic. Those guys should have been huge, but between management issues and problems with their label they were killed, literally. Two of the guys committed suicide because of the mess with the record company. They made a couple of good records that the label wouldnt release because of litigation issues. Frickin lawyers should all drop dead. When the Beatles were done, they were all broke. Biggest band in history and God knows how many records they sold or how much money they made for their label. Luckily Lennon and McCartney owned the songs so they had income, but George Harrison and Ringo Starr had to go out and hustle their asses off to make money. There is something wrong with a system where a manager can make a fortune off a band and have a Malibu beach house while the band can end up broke and on the streets when the run is over.
